Dark souls a role playing action game with 3 games in its series, but one of the most difficult and frustrating games ever created in this world. Having played this game before, I know how frustrating and infuriating this game would have been.

The reason why the game is so difficult is because of a simple reason: the player. Hypothetically the game is very simple, every action has a consequence, if you want to play the game it is quite easy, dodge or block an attack, land a hit or two, then rinse and repeat. When applied to the entire game, we can broaden our patterns to include scanning the surrounding level, paying close attention to details and being patient with enemies.

However, to an average player base, this is quite difficult, one or two hits then blocking an attack, for an average boss fight that may seem highly feasible but for a normal enemy as well. That is one of the main reason why dark souls is so tough it is that the players do not identify certain patterns and the enemies have high damage output as well as high health bars, which sort of makes sense since some mobs are 10 times your size with sword 3-4 times your size as well.

As mentioned previously, every action has its inherent consequence. If a player plays irritatedly and impatiently, their health bar will be depleted. If their health bar is depleted well they are dead. That is what the definition of what makes the game so hard. Patience is not taught it is by failing many times do the players like myself realize that every fight has its own pattern and you can beat the game easily, but what is the fun in that?
